Scarlet Witch Movie Report Sets Elizabeth Olsen’s MCU Return Timeline

A new rumor suggests Marvel Studios has already planned a Scarlet Witch solo film to be released as part of MCU’s superhero saga. Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff was last seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The film ended with Wanda sacrificing herself at Mount Wundagore while destroying copies of the Darkhold, which indicated that she died.

According to scooper James Mack, a Scarlet Witch movie is already in development. The insider claims that the film is planned to be released in the first phase of the MCU’s next saga, which kicks off after Avengers: Secret Wars. It should be noted that this is just a rumor and Marvel Studios has not officially announced a Scarlet Witch film.

Why Scarlet Witch could play a pivotal role in the MCU’s next saga

Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, is a mutant in Marvel comics. However, Marvel was legally barred from referring to her as a mutant when she was introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has already started teasing Marvel’s next few movies, which will collectively make up the Mutant Saga.

With Marvel now controlling the X-Men IP, a Scarlet Witch movie that explores more of her mutant powers has been a popular fan request. The studio is currently developing an X-Men reboot and has already cast its first member. Besides that, the studio also introduced audiences to the MCU’s Jean Grey with Sadie Sink in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Before a Scarlet Witch movie, Marvel will release VisionQuest, which completes a trilogy of stories kicked off by WandaVision. In the show, it was revealed that Wanda always had latent powers that were activated before she was experimented on by HYDRA. It remains to be seen if and when a Scarlet Witch movie arrives from Marvel Studios.

Several rumors have suggested that Olsen will return as Scarlet Witch between Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. Despite Olsen’s insistence on being oblivious to Marvel’s plans, fans will have to wait and see if the rumors turn out to be true.
