Donald Trump celebrated another golf title over the weekend and made sure everyone knew why he believed he came out on top. After claiming victory at his New Jersey course, the president argued that natural ability, not practice, separated him from the rest of the field.
Donald Trump says he secured two Bedminster club titles despite having little time to practice
President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he captured both the Senior and Super Senior club championships at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster. Sharing video of what he described as his winning shot, Trump said he finished with a score of 70 despite spending little time on the course because of presidential responsibilities.
“I won with a score of 70,” he wrote, adding that he gets “very little time to practice” because he is “focused on many other things.” Trump then credited the result to “TALENT,” declaring, “I have it, and they don’t!”
The latest victory continues a familiar streak. Trump also claimed the Senior Men’s Club Championship last year and was triumphant in both the Senior and Super Senior divisions in 2023. Following that earlier triumph, he similarly praised his golfing ability, writing that he was “just a good golfer/athlete” and calling every club championship “a great honor.” Sunday’s post followed much the same playbook, pairing a celebration of the trophy with confidence in his own game.
Trump’s golfing achievements, however, have long sparked debate. Over the years, several public figures have questioned whether he always plays by the rules, allegations the president has consistently rejected (via The Independent).
Actor Samuel L. Jackson accused Trump of cheating in 2016, while sportswriter Rick Reilly devoted his 2019 book Commander in Cheat to similar claims. More recently, a viral video from Scotland reignited online discussion after viewers questioned the movement of Trump’s golf ball during a round.
