Late-night television found fresh material in Donald Trump’s recent public appearances, with Seth Meyers stitching together the president’s latest sleeping controversies into one extended comedy routine. During his monologue, Meyers even pitched a tongue-in-cheek solution for keeping Trump alert in public.

Seth Meyers centered much of Wednesday’s Late Night episode on recent moments involving Trump, beginning with the president’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner speech before pivoting to a heckler who interrupted Trump during a visit to Michigan by yelling “pedophile protector.” Meyers then joked that perhaps the same person needs to “follow” Trump to stop him from dozing off during public appearances.
The comedian followed that setup with clips from Lindsey Graham’s funeral, where Trump appeared on camera with his eyes shut for stretches of the service. Meyers stopped short of declaring the president had actually fallen asleep, saying he could not confirm it, but quipped that Trump certainly looked as though he was battling exhaustion.
He compared the president’s expression to someone trying to stay awake after having “three White Claws at the beach“ before adding that the country’s leader should probably sleep more instead of posting ”AI Slop” on social media in the early hours.
Meyers pushed the joke further by editing together footage from a Cabinet meeting. As Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke, the host overlaid audio from the Michigan protester shouting the same insult. In the edited segment, Trump appeared to suddenly wake up.
The late-night host also mocked comments made during Graham’s funeral about the senator’s reputation on foreign policy. After Fox News host Sean Hannity argued that critics unfairly labeled Graham a “warmonger,” Meyers immediately contrasted those remarks with Trump’s own eulogy, where the president described Graham as highly “hawkish” and remarked that he “never saw a war he didn’t like.” Meyers noted the apparent irony, joking that Hannity appeared to dismiss criticism that Trump himself had voiced only minutes earlier.
