Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could reportedly re-enter the royal fold following the departure of one of King Charles’ closest aides. Journalist Dan Wootton revealed on The Megyn Kelly Show that Sir Clive Alderton, the King’s principal private secretary, will step down. Alderton is expected to leave in May 2027, marking 20 years of service to the monarchy.
According to Wootton, the timing of Alderton’s departure is far from coincidental. When Kelly introduced the segment by mentioning the King’s top aide stepping down and asking why he was leaving, Wootton described it as a major story before offering his explanation. He pointed out that Alderton is the same person whom Harry criticized in his memoir, “Spare.”
Wootton claimed that the mainstream explanation is that Alderton is stepping down because he is 59 and will turn 60 next year, making it the right time to move on. Calling that explanation “rubbish,” Wootton argued that 60 is still young and suggested there was another reason behind the decision.
He said, “Do you want to know the real reason he’s out? Because he was trying to stop Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from returning to the British royal family.”
Wootton further stated that while it is understandable that Charles wants to repair his relationship with Harry and build a bond with his grandchildren, he believes the issue goes beyond that. He added, “This is about protecting the British monarchy from two individuals in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who want to tear it down. And Clive Alderton was doing his damnedest to try and save King Charles from himself, and he is now gone.”
