Donald Trump is reportedly pressuring RFK Jr. to take a more aggressive approach to cutting children’s vaccines. According to sources, the president is not satisfied with Kennedy’s investigation into the ties between vaccines and autism.
Donald Trump reportedly angry that RFK Jr. hasn’t cut enough from vaccines
According to a recent report by The Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump has asked Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to step up his efforts in looking into various conspiracy theories linking vaccines to autism.
The White House had previously ordered the Health and Human Services Secretary to dial back his frequent conspiratorial claims about vaccines and autism. However, Trump had reportedly pressed Kennedy to ramp up the investigation into the claims. This happened during a May lunch at his National Golf Club in northern Virginia.
According to an insider, Trump directly told Kennedy that he might have the “yips.” The president reportedly asked Kennedy to cut down the number of vaccines that the Department of Health and Human Services recommends for children, hoping to see a drop in autism rates.
Sources further claimed that Trump and Kennedy discussed the matter again in a tense June meeting at the White House. At the time, the president once again criticized Kennedy for a lack of progress on the issue. Trump remains disappointed with the latter for not bringing in satisfactory results despite giving him ample time to work on it. Sources further claim that all conversation between the two leads back to the vaccine conspiracy.
Trump has reportedly also told his aides that he believes that Kennedy must deliver results soon. Otherwise, as per the report, the latter will be deemed a failure. Additionally, the WSJ reported that lobbyists and HHS staffers are speculating that Trump might replace Kennedy with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services chief Dr. Mehmet Oz following the midterm elections.
