The approval rating of Donald Trump has hit a record low in recent polls just before the 2026 midterm elections. Previously, a state-level approval map from Civiqs showed that the President had just 37 percent approval across US states. Based on previous reports, the war between Iran and the United States has acted as one of the major contributors to the drop in the President’s rating.
Donald Trump’s approval rating hits new low
According to a recent YouGov poll, Donald Trump’s approval rating has reached a new low as the 2026 midterm elections approach. The poll was taken between July 25 and 27 among approximately 1,559 participants.
Based on the poll results, only 34 percent of participants are happy with the President‘s job performance. On the other hand, a whopping 62 percent have voiced dissatisfaction with Trump’s job performance. Although in his first term he had a net job approval of -9, it now stands at a record low of -28.
In comparison, his predecessor, Joe Biden, ended his term with a net job approval of -19.
The poll also shows Trump’s job approval among people across various age groups. Within a group of ages ranging from 18-to 29-year-olds, Trump’s approval numbers in the second term went from +5 to -33. The President’s approval rating declined from -1 to -35 among people aged 30 to 44. Among people aged 45 to 64, Trump’s approval rating took a major hit, dropping from +15 to -29. Lastly, the President’s approval rating was recorded as dropping from -1 to -15 among people aged 65 and older.
According to a report by The Hill, analyst Nate Silver commented on these figures and suggested, “It’s kind of striking how most of the Trump-related stories this summer have been boring and dumb. Maybe we’re moving on from him being the central figure in American politics.”
