Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas’ musical comedy Power Ballad has secured a release date on physical media. Released earlier this year, the film received positive reviews but grossed just over $3.3 million worldwide. Following that, the film debuted on digital platforms in June.
When is Power Ballad being released on Blu-ray and DVD?
Lionsgate has announced that it will release Power Ballad on Blu-ray and DVD on August 25, 2026. The film will retail for $39.99 on Blu-ray. Those purchasing the physical release will receive Dolby Atmos audio and several bonus features.
The Power Ballad Blu-ray includes the following special features:
- The Making of Power Ballad
- The Music of Power Ballad
- The Power of Paul Rudd
- Theatrical Trailers

In an interview with ComingSoon, Power Ballad co-writer and star Peter McDonald said the film was inspired by his and director John Carney’s experiences as musicians. McDonald also appears in the film as Sandy, Rick’s best friend. The film currently holds an impressive 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with audiences also liking it just as much.
Carney won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Falling Slowly” from Once, alongside Glen Hansard. The filmmaker has also received two other Academy Award nominations for Begin Again and Sing Street. Rudd will be next seen in this year’s Avengers: Doomsday.
The film’s synopsis reads, “When Rick (Paul Rudd), a past-his-prime wedding singer, meets fading boy-band star Danny (Nick Jonas) during a gig, the two bond over music and a late-night jam session. But when Danny turns one of Rick’s songs into the hit that reignites his career, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves — even if it means risking everything he cares about. From writer-director John Carney (Sing Street, Once), Power Ballad is a feel-good story about music, self-respect, friendship, and the price of ambition.”
Power Ballad stars Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas, Peter McDonald, Marcella Plunkett, Havana Rose Liu, and Jack Reynor. The film is available on digital platforms now.
