The View co-host condemned cruel reactions to Lindsey Graham’s death while discussing Donald Trump
During the Monday episode of The View, co-host Ana Navarro criticized individuals making cruel remarks about Lindsey Graham’s death. She condemned the comments, saying that inhuman behaviour towards the dead should not be tolerated, even though that’s something Donald Trump has done in the past.
“First thing I wanna say is I saw a lot of posts online this week kind of celebrating his death and rejoicing,” Navarro said. “And listen, I know that [Donald] Trump does that. He did it with Bob Mueller. He did it with John McCain, he did it with Rob Reiner, but it’s inhumane, and it’s really lacking empathy.”
Navarro went on to highlight the potential negative impact that the insensitive posts can have on the deceased’s family. “The dead person’s dead and can’t hear you and can’t read your post. But his family, his sister, who he adopted when she was 13 because both their parents died, is alive and is hearing it,” she said. “And so I think that for the benefit for humanity, for having normal decency towards the family of the dead, that just has to stop.”
Navarro condemned the president’s disrespectful comments in the past, saying, “The fact that Donald Trump is indecent doesn’t mean the rest of us have to do it.”
The View co-host said that Graham “became just a completely different person” following the death of McCain in 2018. She added, “I get it that people are brokenhearted. I’m brokenhearted. I get it that people were disappointed in him. I’m disappointed in him.”
Graham passed away on Saturday, July 11, at the age of 71. The South Carolina senator died from a ruptured aorta caused by chronic heart disease, according to the preliminary examination findings from the D.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
