Jurassic Park Actor Sam Neill Passes Away at 78 — Report

Sam Neill‘s demise has left the entertainment industry mourning. He was best known for his role as Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park movies. He died on Monday, July 13, as announced by his family on social media.

Sam Neill reportedly passed away at 78

Sam Neill‘s family released a statement on social media announcing that he had passed away at the age of 78. The statement read, “Sam was surrounded by family and passed with the dignity that has characterized his whole life. The loss was sudden and unexpected but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer-free.”

In his 2023 memoir, Did I Ever Tell You This?, Neill revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage three cancer. Following the book’s release, he shared that a chemotherapy drug was helping manage the cancer. He also shared more insights on his cancer diagnosis and treatment with 7News. “I’ve been living with a particular type of lymphoma for about five years, and I was on chemotherapy, [which is] pretty miserable business, but it was keeping me alive,” he said. However, Neill mentioned that when the chemotherapy stopped being effective, he became uncertain about his life.

Later, he enrolled in a CAR T-cell therapy clinical trial in Australia. At the time, he had a scan and learned that he had no cancer in his body. “I’m very, very excited that this can happen. It’s time I did another movie,” Neill said earlier this year.

According to his filmography, his last films are Godzilla x Kong: Supernova and The Last Resort. Last year, he played Paul Souter in the Untamed series and voiced Magpie in The Fox. Apart from the Jurassic Park film series, he is also widely known for his appearances in Peaky Blinders, The Tudors, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, and the Peter Rabbit film series.
