Controversial AI “actress” Tilly Norwood is ready to feature in her first full-length movie, which will be set inside the “Tillyverse.” The fully AI-generated character was introduced last year, resulting in heavy backlash from notable names in the entertainment industry.
What do we know about Tilly Norwood’s first movie?
Particle 6, the studio behind the AI “actress” Tilly Norwood, has announced the first movie led by her, titled Misaligned, reports Variety. The film will be a comedy-drama and a “coming-of-age story infused with existential AI chaos.”
Misaligned will be set in what’s called the “Tillyverse,” described as a digital world up inside the Cloud. The movie will focus on Tilly’s character, a being with no real experiences or body of her own. However, things take an unexpected turn when a bot from the dark web compels her to get out of her limitations and discover desires to become more human.
Speaking about the hybrid of TV, film, and AI professionals working on the film, the CEO and founder of Particle 6, Eline van der Velden, said, “AI can support premium narrative filmmaking, but only with substantial amounts of human craft, skill, judgement and time. That’s not a limitation of the technology. That’s the point.”
Following Tilly Norwood’s introduction in late 2025, many notable Hollywood personalities have expressed concerns about the project’s potential impact on the industry. Former Scream actress Melissa Barrera posted on Instagram, “Hope all actors repped by the agent that does this, drop their a$$. How gross, read the room.” Similarly, actor Nicholas Alexander Chavez criticized Norwood, saying, “Not an actress nice try.”
Eline van der Velden later explained the intent behind the AI “actress.” She stated that Tilly “is not a replacement for a human being, but a creative work – a piece of art.” However, several notable Hollywood names continued to express concern. Acclaimed actress Emily Blunt reacted to Norwood by saying, “Good Lord, we’re screwed. That is really, really scary.”
Actor Chris Pratt had an even harsher take on the AI “actress.” The Guardians of the Galaxy star said, “I heard this Tilly Norwood thing, I think that’s all bulls***. I’ve never seen her in a movie. I don’t know who this b**** is.”
