Brilliant Minds’ Canceled Season 3 Plot Just Got Revealed

NBC may have canceled Brilliant Minds, but that hasn’t stopped showrunner Michael Grassi from sharing his plans for a potential Season 3. Following the cliffhanger ending of the second season, the veteran producer has now described the storylines the show would’ve explored in the scrapped third season.

Michael Grassi shares plans for canceled Brilliant Minds Season 3

In a recent interview with TV Insider, Michael Grassi shared that Brilliant Minds Season 3 would have centered heavily around the relationship between Zachary Quinto’s Oliver Wolf and Teddy Sears’ Josh Nichols.

“We’d continue to show them in the workplace together and what that looks like and all the fun of them tackling cases together. And at the same time, what does it look like for Josh and Wolf navigating a relationship?” he remarked. The medical drama would have also addressed the couple’s eventual plans to “move in together,” as well as their potential wedding.

“We had a plan for Wolf to have a new fun secret in Season 3 with the Hudson Riders to continue some tension there. Not that he’s having any romance on the side, but he would’ve been potentially a secret doctor for the biker gang, which would’ve been very, very fun,” he continued.

Brilliant Minds Season 2 ended with Oliver getting back with Josh, only for the two to encounter a mysterious development that left many guests at a hotel unconscious. “We had a bit of an event, a two-parter plan for that,” Grassi stated.

As for Jake Epstein’s guest appearance as Alan Caldwell in Brilliant Minds, Grassi had planned to map out a “serialized story going into Season 3 for sure.”

Talking about the conflicted relationship between Ashleigh LaThrop’s Ericka and her mother, the Riverdale writer revealed that he wanted “for her to come back and sort of see what a relationship could be between them” in the canceled Brilliant Minds Season 3.

Grassi concluded by saying that despite Brilliant Minds’ cancellation, he would “jump at that opportunity” to return to the show.
