Angelina Jolie Says She Has to ‘Live Again’ After Brad Pitt Divorce — Report

Life looks different for Angelina Jolie these days. The “Maleficent” star is opening up about finding herself again after years of putting her family first. In a candid new interview, Jolie reflected on motherhood, healing, and why she believes it’s finally time to “live again.” She also shared a rare update on her dating life, admitting that romance has not been a priority since her divorce from Brad Pitt.

While discussing her new film “Couture,” Angelina Jolie found herself drawing parallels between the film and her own life. The actress stars as Maxine Walker, a filmmaker whose cancer diagnosis forces her to reevaluate what truly matters. Although the story centers on illness, Jolie said its deeper message is about embracing life instead of letting difficult experiences define it.

That message, she suggested, feels especially personal today. “So yes, things are changing, but in a way I didn’t expect,” Jolie said in a conversation with Yahoo Entertainment. “I’m thinking I have to live again. Be free again. In a way that maybe life has broken me a little bit.”

Her comments come years after her highly publicized split from Brad Pitt. The former couple, who share six children, separated in 2016 after two years of marriage, beginning a lengthy legal battle that remained in the spotlight for years. Throughout that period, Jolie largely kept the focus on raising their children while making only occasional comments about her personal life.

Now, she says, that stage of life is beginning to evolve. When asked whether she views herself differently than she did years ago, Jolie didn’t hesitate. “Oh, completely,” she said, before adding that she has become “a little bit more the person I used to be.”

She credited much of that change to her daughters, who are now young women. Watching them grow up, she explained, has also made her reflect on the qualities she hopes they never lose. “I’m seeing what I want for them. I’m seeing what I don’t want them to lose,” the two-time Oscar winner said. She added that those moments have reminded her of “what I may have lost” along the way.

The 51-year-old also believes her daughters are encouraging her to rediscover an identity beyond motherhood. “I think in some way they’re bringing me back to my old self,” Jolie shared. “They kind of want me now to not just be ‘Mom.'”
