Conservative commentator Candace Owens has reignited controversy surrounding the death of Charlie Kirk, questioning claims made by Turning Point USA staffer Andrew Kolvet.
The latest claims have reopened questions surrounding the events leading up to Kirk’s death.

According to OK! Magazine, Candace Owens accused Turning Point USA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet of changing his account surrounding Charlie Kirk’s death. Shortly after Kirk’s assassination, Kolvet blamed Kirk’s assassination on leftists. Days later, he posted, “In the final year of Charlie’s life, he spoke out about the rise of Islam in the West more than any other topic. Islam is more than a religion, it is a conquering ideology that seeks to rule over Europe, and then America.”
Responding to his post, she wrote, “This is not what you told me. You told me specifically that he texted ‘they are going to kill me’ the night before.” She continued, “I specifically asked you who he was referring to and you said ‘I’m not sure.’ This was less than 48 hours after his assassination.” Owens then questioned Kolvet’s certainty, asking, “Now you’re certain he meant leftists?”
Kolvet continued defending his position on X after users questioned his claims. In response to one user asking which culture Kirk believed would kill him, Kolvet said Kirk had repeatedly stated that “leftists were going to try and kill him.” He reiterated the same claim when another user challenged his account.
Owens maintained that Kolvet’s public comments conflicted with what he had privately told her in the immediate aftermath of Kirk’s death. She continued to question why his account had changed, making the alleged final text message the latest flash point in her ongoing dispute with Turning Point USA.
