The Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, reportedly stayed up late watching videos of conservative activist Charlie Kirk‘s assassination to the extent that it worried his wife, Usha. JD Vance replayed Charlie Kirk’s assassination video multiple times, new book claims

Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan’s new book, Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump, revealed that Vice President JD Vance stayed up nights looking at videos of Charlie Kirk’s assassination in hopes of finding some evidence that others missed.

Vance became so obsessed with the death of his friend that it worried his wife, Usha. The arrest of the suspected shooter did not ease the 41-year-old’s mind as he remained convinced of a greater conspiracy.

“Over the next few nights, the vice president stayed up late watching videos of the shooting on his phone, finding clips from different angles and studying the footage for clues to a broader conspiracy,” the journalists wrote in the new book (via The Mirror), “His instincts told him there was a larger plot behind the murder.”

They continued, “He went down countless online rabbit holes, becoming so consumed by the videos and the theories that his wife, Usha, told him she was worried about him.”

Charlie Kirk was assassinated on September 10, 2025. He was shot in the neck during a live public appearance at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The 31-year-old was speaking outdoors under a white gazebo to a crowd of roughly 3,000. He was rushed to Timpanogos Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead soon after.

The death triggered significant debate and discussion across the country. The authorities later arrested Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah resident. He reportedly acted alone in the murder and is now facing charges of felony aggravated murder, felony use of a firearm, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering.
