United States Vice President JD Vance has set another major viewership record on ABC’s long-running talk show The View. This comes a week after Vance sat down with the ladies of The View last Tuesday to promote his newest book, Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.
What record did JD Vance’s appearance on The View break?
Per Deadline, The View’s June 16, 2026 episode, which featured Vance as the talk show’s only guest, has garnered a record-breaking 3.3 million viewers. This marks the TV show’s most-viewed episode since November 16, 2024, which was its post-Election Day broadcast that garnered 4.470 million viewers.
During the hour-long episode, all six hosts of The View were present, including Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin. Besides his book, Vance also discussed several political topics, including immigration, inflation, and race. His appearance on the show also garnered a strong response from the studio audience, with some even refusing to applaud during Vance’s entrance.
“Now in its 29th season, The View is America’s most-watched daytime talk show for the 6th consecutive season. Hailed by The New York Times as a top political television show, this Daytime Emmy Award-winning program is a key destination for up-to-the-minute hot topics and invaluable conversations with celebrities, newsmakers, and politicians,” reads the logline.
The daytime talk show was created by the late Barbara Walters. The acclaimed broadcast journalist hosted the show for 17 years before retiring in 2014. It is currently executive-produced by Brian Tetam with Sarah de la O serving as a director. Throughout its run, it has garnered 31 Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Talk Show.
