JD Vance seems to have come under fire following his reaction to a homophobic joke made by Fox News host Jesse Watters during his book tour. The US Vice President not only failed to oppose Watters’ “too gay” remark but also appeared to enjoy the quip when he laughed wholeheartedly after hearing the comment.
JD Vance reacts to Fox News Host Jesse Watters’ joke
The former Ohio senator recently made an appearance on Fox News’ The Five, as part of his book tour, to promote his latest creation, titled Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.
During the ‘One More Thing’ segment of the show, host Jesse Watters brought out a pickle cake with green frosting to commemorate National Fudge Day. He explained that he decided to opt for a pickle cake instead of fudge, as the latter would’ve been “too gay” of an option.
“I was gonna do fudge [cake]…for the VP, but I thought it’d be too gay, so I did pickle cake instead,” Watters remarked. “I’m not sure if I got it right.” Despite the controversial nature of the joke, JD Vance did not make any comment against it. Instead, he reacted by laughing at the quip before thanking him for the cake.
Before his book tour took him to The Five, Vance also made an appearance on Fox News’ Gutfeld!, where he encountered yet another homophobic joke at the hands of the host. While talking to him about the Iran war peace negotiations, Greg Gutfeld asked, “We’re looking at this new deal, VP, and I’m wondering, did we sign the deal because the new Ayatollah is gay and we wanted to focus on Pride Month?”
Once again, Vance responded by laughing at the remark and saying, “I’m glad I decided to ruin my political career by spending an hour here,” before adding, “I’ll either be killed or unelectable if I answer that.” Unsurprisingly, this has resulted in a lot of backlash directed at the US Vice President, but he has yet to comment on his remarks.
