Referring to the dates, Mamdani mentioned that there would be other major events in NYC at the same time. He said that the city was “used to big events” and everyone was “incredibly excited for this one.” We know it coincides with the Knicks’ [NBA] Finals run. We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding — all happening at the same time — and we are so excited to welcome the world here,” he added.
Furthermore, the mention of Swift’s wedding caught reporters’ attention. One of them asked Mamdani whether he had been invited to the nuptials. He replied, “No and no.” Adding to that, the politician said, “I wish them a lovely wedding.
