NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani recently sparked buzz around Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding. On Monday, the politician held a press conference to discuss security measures for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026. For those unversed, the global tournament will be held from June 13 to July 19, 2026.

Referring to the dates, Mamdani mentioned that there would be other major events in NYC at the same time. He said that the city was “used to big events” and everyone was “incredibly excited for this one.” We know it coincides with the Knicks’ [NBA] Finals run. We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding — all happening at the same time — and we are so excited to welcome the world here,” he added.

Furthermore, the mention of Swift’s wedding caught reporters’ attention. One of them asked Mamdani whether he had been invited to the nuptials. He replied, “No and no.” Adding to that, the politician said, “I wish them a lovely wedding. I’ll listen to ‘Only the Young’ at home on my own.” Meanwhile, Page Six had earlier hinted that the high-profile wedding could be held on July 3 at Madison Square Garden, NYC.

Moreover, a previous report claimed that the “Life of a Showgirl” hitmaker would like to invite people they are close to. “Taylor wants to look around the room and recognize every face. She doesn’t want people there simply because they’re famous,” a source told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice.
