An insider told The Sun that Johnson and MGK connected when they met at Swift’s wedding. “They started off as friends, but there was a real connection between them from the beginning,” the source said, adding that Swift believes they are “a really good match.”
Swift has been friends with Johnson for more than a decade, while MGK is part of her wider circle through his friendship with Kelce. The rapper previously praised Swift, calling her a “saint” on Hot Ones Versus.
Neither Johnson nor MGK was reportedly looking for a serious relationship after their previous romances ended. Johnson’s on-and-off relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin reportedly ended last year. MGK’s engagement to Megan Fox ended in November 2024. However, a source claimed their attraction was difficult to ignore.
“They’d both come out of relationships and weren’t necessarily thinking about settling down again. But the chemistry between them was difficult to ignore,” the insider explained.
Dating speculation grew in September when the pair were photographed heading to Swift’s vacant Tribeca apartment in New York. Johnson reportedly contacted Swift, who was away at the time. The singer then allowed the pair to spend time at her apartment.
Since then, MGK has reportedly taken Johnson on dinner dates and introduced her to his creative projects. The actress has also reportedly supported his career. She travelled to Milan in September to watch him walk the runway at the Vogue World show. The rapper has reportedly met Johnson’s mother, which could suggest their relationship is becoming more serious.
Despite their growing closeness, the pair reportedly prefer to keep their romance private for now. “They’re enjoying this stage of the relationship and don’t feel any need to rush into making a big public statement,” a source said, adding that they are in the “honeymoon phase.”
