Democrats are set to summon JD Vance to testify over his alleged role in the “cover-up” of the Epstein files. The move follows a report claiming he led the media response when reports linking Donald Trump to Jeffrey Epstein emerged. It also claimed that the vice president warned that releasing the files could become a major problem for the administration.
Democrats urge JD Vance to testify in court over alleged Epstein files cover-up
Representative Robert Garcia is leading the Democrats on the House Oversight Committee. He intends to call JD Vance to testify about his alleged role in the Epstein files cover-up. It has to do with his alleged handling of the media around the explosive article that tied the disgraced sex offender to Donald Trump. At the time of writing, the White House didn’t comment on whether the vice president would come in to testify.
The Democrats’ plan comes following a New York Times report. It claimed that Vance alerted fellow officials that the release of Epstein files could become a huge problem. The report revealed that a series of Situation Room meetings was held to find a way to address the problem. However, Trump wasn’t present in any of these meetings.
In addition, the reports also suggested that during a Situation Room meeting, Vance took charge to deal with the media reports around Trump’s connection to Epstein. It stated that he was the one to ask cabinet officials to roll out the files, further adding that if it was delayed and released gradually, it would not have a good impact on the administration.
Garcia addressed the media regarding Vance’s alleged involvement in the strategy to cover up the entire Epstein situation. He said, “I mean, the fact that JD Vance is hosting meetings in the Situation Room, which is designed for national security issues, multiple meetings, he’s leading those meetings, he’s talking about protecting the president. He’s talking about strategy on Ghislaine Maxwell … she exonerates Donald Trump. That’s a huge, that’s huge bombshell reporting.” Garcia revealed that he was unaware of the vice president’s contribution until the report popped up.
