New actor rumored to play Professor X in Avengers: Secret Wars
According to a recent rumor, a new actor will portray Professor X (Charles Xavier) in Avengers: Secret Wars. But there is no confirmation from Marvel Studios regarding this rumor at the time of writing.
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), user The Beyond Reporter wrote, “A new actor who will play Professor X will be introduced in Avengers: Secret Wars.” However, the rumor needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Previously, Marvel head Kevin Feige suggested that the MCU would undergo a soft reboot after Avengers: Secret Wars. After the release of Secret Wars, fans will get the MCU’s first X-Men movie, directed by Jake Schreier. However, the casting details for this movie are still unknown.
Notably, a 2025 report alleged that Sir Patrick Stewart will retire from the role after Doomsday. While speaking on The Kristian Harloff Show, host Harloff stated, “So, we know that Patrick Stewart is going to be making an appearance here as Professor X, that we know. Apparently, he’s done with acting after this. That’s it. Apparently, this is it. Apparently, he’s stepping down.” Though Stewart, who is 85 years old, has not made any comments regarding this.
Apart from Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen is also returning as Magneto for Doomsday. McKellen spoke about his scenes and seemingly spoiled a bit while talking to journalist Jake Hamilton. He revealed that while discussing a stunt, he destroyed New Jersey in the movie. After spilling the details, McKellen said, “Oooh, I perhaps shouldn’t have said that.”
