Donald Trump Gives Bizarre Justification for Walking Out of NBC Interview

President Donald Trump gave an unusual explanation for walking out of an interview with NBC News. The remarks came after he abruptly ended a pre-recorded session with Meet the Press moderator Kristen Welker. This came amid his continued scrutiny of the media, whose questions don’t align with his politics.

Donald Trump reveals reason behind walking out of NBC interview

Speaking to reporters at an agricultural roundtable following the taping, Donald Trump linked his walking out of the NBC interview to the conditions outside the venue. “I just did an interview in the most beautiful barn I’ve ever seen,” he said. “But it was raining. And it was with NBC fake news. And because it was raining, I got a little bit angry at them. I was not happy with them. But we had a good time.”

The justification got ridiculed on social media. Users questioned the logic of blaming a television network for the weather, with one writing on X, “Was it raining in the room? Does he think NBC controls the weather? Make this make sense (You can’t).” The interview itself took place inside a sheltered barn with a metal roof, leaving no exposure to the conditions outside except the splattering sounds.

During the roughly 50-minute conversation, Kristen Welker pressed the president on topics including his election fraud claims, gas prices, American farming, and tensions with Iran. Trump, by the end of it, stood up and left, criticizing Welker’s approach. “You’re crooked, and Meet the Press is crooked, and so is ABC and CBS and CNN. One-sided crooked networks. Let’s call it quits, because I’ve had enough,” he said. He added, “Thank you, darling. Have a good time.”

Welker later addressed the incident on X, confirming that the weather had created logistical challenges. “My interview with President Trump on Friday afternoon was unfortunately complicated by weather issues,” she shared alongside a photo of the pair sitting inside the barn. “In spite of those challenges, we still had a substantial conversation on issues from the Iran war to the economy to the so-called ‘anti-weaponization’ fund.”

The episode adds to a long pattern of Trump attacking media outlets and journalists, often in personal terms, when faced with questions he perceives as hostile. The White House hasn’t yet issued a statement.
