In a report by Fox News, Spencer Pratt has said that his L.A. mayor campaign has won the backing of Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx.
During an interview with Us Weekly, the former reality star, who launched his mayoral bid in January, explained his reasoning behind the claims of celebrity endorsements.
“I don’t name-drop, but I had two of my favorite people ever support me. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx both said, ‘Please, Mr. Mayor, we want these streets safe again.’ If their reps try to deny this happened, I have multiple witnesses. It was an out-of-body experience,” Pratt said.
In an interview with Fox News Digital earlier this year, Spencer Pratt disclosed alleged private endorsements from several celebrities.
“I know actual A-list stars support what I do, because I’ve been at restaurants, and they sit down at the table, and they quiz me about everything that I know for 20 minutes and thank me,” he said. “But these people know if they do that publicly, they risk losing their careers that some of them have been working for 30 years to have.”
Spencer Pratt has centered his platform on homelessness, public safety, and government spending. Casting himself as a political outsider taking on Los Angeles’s status quo, he’s aimed to win over voters frustrated with the city’s leadership.
His bid picked up steam in recent weeks thanks to several high-profile donations. This notably came from Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and public backing from Hollywood figures. The list includes Katharine McPhee and David Foster.
Meanwhile, Paris Hilton voiced support for Pratt with a brief comment. “Spencer for Mayor,” she wrote. Billy Bush also backed Pratt during Wednesday’s episode of The Story with Martha MacCallum on Fox News.
As for Leonardo DiCaprio, it’s understood he has not endorsed any candidate, publicly or privately. Jamie Foxx’s representative also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
