Lotus casts Cuba Gooding Jr., Luke Ford, and more
Luke Ford, best known for playing Alex O’Connell in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, has joined the international thriller movie Lotus alongside Jerry Maguire fame Cuba Gooding Jr., reports Variety. Irish singer Keith Duffy, Qymira (Shadow Transit), Cristian Lavin, and Alberto Cowboy will also be seen in important roles.
Lotus was initially introduced to international buyers and distributors at the Cannes Film Market. Principal photography will run between September and October this year in Manila. Additional scenes will be filmed in Brazil.
After joining the cast, Gooding Jr. said, “Lotus’ marks my first major project shooting in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.” He added, “There’s an energy to this project and to Manila that immediately pulled me in. The vision Pedring and the team have for this film is raw, dangerous and global.” The actor was recently seen in movies like Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace (2024) and The Firing Squad (2025). Next, he will appear in a Canadian adventure film, Dog Patrol.

Ford also expressed his excitement while giving the reason for joining the movie. “What drew me to ‘Lotus’ was how grounded and unpredictable the world felt. There’s a rawness to the story and the way Pedring wants to shoot the film that makes it feel immediate and immersive.”
The Australian actor added, “Manila and Brazil are incredible backdrops for this kind of action-thriller, and I’m excited to be part of something that feels both intimate and global at the same time.” Ford made recent appearances in projects like 2024’s Life After Fighting and The Moogai.
“This is a film designed for a global audience but rooted in the energy and chaos of Southeast Asia and Latin America,” said director Lopez while emphasizing Lotus’ international appeal. The movie is the first of five planned titles as part of ACT3 and Blackops Studios Asia’s deal.
Lotus is yet to receive an official release date window.
