Sugar Season 2 hits Apple TV next month
Sugar Season 2 will premiere on Apple TV on Friday, June 19, 2026. While the streamer has yet to release a trailer for the new season, it provided a first look in the form of a few stills earlier this year. The trailer is expected to arrive in the coming days.
The series centers on John Sugar, a private detective who specializes in locating missing people. A powerful Hollywood producer, Jonathan Siegel, hires the detective to find his daughter, Olivia. But as he delves deeper into the investigation, Sugar uncovers shocking secrets about the Siegel family.
Mark Protosevich, known for writing I Am Legend and Thor, developed and co-produced the series for Apple TV. Colin Farrell headlines it as the titular character while also serving as an executive producer. Meanwhile, Simon Kinberg, who produced hit titles like The Martian and Logan, also served as an executive producer.
The show’s supporting cast features Amy Ryan as Melanie, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Ruby, James Cromwell as Jonathan, Sydney Chandler as Olivia, Dennis Boutsikaris as Bernie, and Anna Gunn as Margit, among others.
Sugar Season 1 aired on Apple TV on April 5, 2024, with two episodes. Its finale, titled “Farewell,” aired on May 17, 2024, ending with a shocking cliffhanger. In the episode, Sugar finally locates Olivia and returns her to her family. However, his investigation was far from over
Meanwhile, the episode also reveals that Sugar and all his associates are Polyglots, an alien species that arrived on Earth to observe and report on human behavior. When their existence is threatened, some of the Polyglots, including Ruby, prepare to leave the planet. It also gives a glimpse of their desert-like home planet.
In terms of ratings, Sugar Season 1 holds a critics’ score of 81% and a user score of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. On IMDb, it has a 7.4 based on 43K user votes.
