Pete Davidson’s 5-Word Dark Speech at Webby Awards Raises Eyebrow

Pete Davidson‘s five-word acceptance speech at the Webby Awards was somewhat on the dark side. Davidson received the Special Achievement Award for his influence in comedy at the 30th Annual Webby Awards. The function was held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Monday, May 11. Notably, Machine Gun Kelly presented him with the award.

Pete Davidson gives dark speech at Webby Awards

Pete Davidson gave a depressing speech at the Webby Awards, raising eyebrows. Keeping up the tradition of giving five-word speeches, Davidson did the same. Most recipients gave inspiring and wonderful five-word speeches. However, Davidson remarked, “Thanks. I’m still dead inside,” while receiving the Special Achievement Award.

Reportedly, all’s not well between Davidson and his girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, who gave birth to their daughter a few months ago. For those unversed, the couple welcomed their daughter Scottie Rose in December 2025. A source shared with PEOPLE, “There are issues, but they’re trying to figure things out together. They’re adjusting to parenthood and working through the process.” Moreover, the source explained that their daughter remains “their top priority.”

However, the comedian only had kind words for his partner in a March interview while discussing his new Crocs campaign. Davidson told the outlet, “Dad life is f***ng awesome. It is exhausting and rewarding and cute. And I’m very lucky because Elsie is a fantastic mom, and I can’t stress enough how lucky I am.”

However, Davidson isn’t only in the news for his alleged relationship issues. The 32-year-old comedian referenced the late Charlie Kirk in a roast joke. He made a Kirk joke directed at Tony Hinchcliffe during Kevin Hart’s roast. Davidson remarked, “Tony reminds me of Charlie Kirk, and that’s he’s definitely been on camera letting a guy unload in his throat. Oh you don’t know me? Yeah, ‘Kill Tony.’ Please someone f***ing ‘Kill Tony.’ Tony, nothing you say tonight will hurt my feelings. I was in a beef with Kanye, so I’ve taken shots from better gay Nazis.”

The joke did not go down well with Kirk’s friend, Andrew Kolvet, a Turning Point USA producer. Kolvet said that Davidson’s comments reportedly left him disgusted, and he physically cringed when he heard the joke (via TMZ).
