Nicole Kidman talks about coming out of her shell
In her recent interview with Variety, Nicole Kidman got candid about her separation from Keith Urban. The Babygirl actress reflected on life after the highly publicized divorce and also opened up about upcoming projects she is excited for.
At one point during the interview, Kidman was asked if she was “doing all right” following the separation. The star assured, “I am, because I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good.” She added, “What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect.”
Kidman emphasized that her focus remains on her two daughters with Urban, Sunday Rose, and Faith Margaret. “I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women,” the Oscar-winning star stated.
Speaking about her brief hiatus last year, Kidman explained, “I was quiet,” adding, “I had other things going on. I was in my shell.” The actress also discussed her upcoming movies, which include the highly anticipated sequel to Practical Magic, where she will reunite on-screen with Sandra Bullock. When asked if she has broken out of that “shell”, the star replied, “Now I’m in a place of saying, ‘2026. Here we go.’ I have ‘Practical Magic’ with Sandy. I’ll be in full witch mode.”
Additionally, Kidman also stars in the new series Scarpetta, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on March 11, 2026. The show is based on Patricia Cornwell’s book series of the same name that centers on forensic expert Dr. Kay Scarpetta. Kidman takes on the titular role, sharing the screen with Jamie Lee Curtis, Bobby Cannavale, Simon Baker, and Ariana DeBose.
