Americans React to Donald Trump’s SOTU: ‘Didn’t Even Mention Epstein Files’

President Donald Trump gave his record-breaking State of the Union address, but many Americans are focusing on what he left out rather than what he included. He gave speech for one hour and 48 minutes, which is the longest SOTU in history, yet completely avoided any mention of the Epstein files: an omission that did not go unnoticed by viewers and lawmakers alike.

Donald Trump’s SOTU speech has Americans talking

Donald Trump’s SOTU speech got divided reactions from both the chamber and the public. While Republicans rose repeatedly to applaud the president’s immigration crackdown, tariff policies, and claims of a “golden age of America,” Democrats pointed out what they saw as glaring omissions particularly regarding the Epstein files.

Several Democratic lawmakers wore protest pins specifically addressing the issue. One pin read: “Stand with survivors. Release the files.” The visual protest underscored growing frustration that Trump has not addressed the Epstein documents despite months of headlines following the Department of Justice’s publication of millions of redacted files.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer took to social media during the address, writing: “As Trump rambles on, the American people are still waiting for justice and transparency on the Epstein Files.”

Perhaps the most powerful reaction came from someone seated in the chamber itself. Epstein survivor Annie Farmer attended the speech and later released a statement expressing utter disappointment. “Tonight, I joined my survivor sisters at this evening’s State of the Union address, to remind the president that we are still demanding justice for survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell,” Farmer stated. “We were met with silence (via The Independent).”

Her words resonated across social media, with many Americans expressing frustration that a topic dominating headlines for months received no attention during the lengthy address. Meanwhile, Republican Rep. Glenn Thompson posted, “Tonight, President Trump reaffirmed the strength of our great country.” Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly described it as a “very strong night for the President.”

For now, Donald Trump’s SOTU speech has left Americans sharply divided and still debating what was said and what was not.
