Over a month after Victoria Jones was found dead at a San Francisco hotel, new details have emerged about the death of Tommy Lee Jones‘ daughter. Authorities have now officially confirmed the cause of death of the 34-year-old.
Victoria Jones’ cause of death revealed
The San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner revealed that Victoria Jones died from the “toxic effects of cocaine.” Officials ruled the manner of death an “accident.” Tommy Lee Jones’ daughter was discovered early on January 1 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco after emergency crews responded to reports of a medical emergency at approximately 2:52 a.m. (via Entertainment Weekly).
Upon reaching the scene, first responders found an unresponsive woman who was pronounced dead. Authorities stated at the time that they did not suspect foul play. Furthermore, dispatch audio obtained by People classified the call as a “code 3 for the overdose, color change.” A terminology that their medical experts refer to as cyanosis, a condition associated with low oxygen levels in the blood.
Victoria’s family spoke out shortly after her death. In a statement, they said, “We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you. The Family of Victoria Kafka Jones.” She was the daughter of Academy Award-winning actor Tommy Lee Jones and his former wife, Kimberlea Cloughley. The pair, who were married from 1981 to 1996, also share a son, Austin Jones, 43.
She followed in her father’s footsteps and built a career in acting. Victoria appeared in Men in Black II and worked with her father again on The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and The Homesman. Her credits also included Sorry, Haters and an episode of One Tree Hill.
Court records reviewed by multiple outlets showed that Victoria had faced misdemeanor charges in the past year, including drug-related offenses. Reports also indicated that her father had placed her under a legal conservatorship in August 2023 before later petitioning to terminate it.
