According to insider @MyTimeToShineHello on X, “Wolverine and Deadpool are the ones sent to Tobey’s Earth to destroy it and fight Tobey.” This places Maguire’s Spider-Man directly in opposition to two major Fox universe characters early in the film.
The opening scene reportedly showcases a major confrontation between Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. As stated by @MyTimeToShineHello, “In Avengers Doomsday, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man fights Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine while their Earths are about to crash into each other.” This event unfolds as part of a larger battle between Spider-Man and the X-Men from the Fox universe.
The initial sequence reportedly shows Maguire’s Spider-Man facing off against the entire Fox X-Men lineup. “Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man fighting the X-Men and particularly Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is the opening scene of Avengers Doomsday,” the report states. This sequence establishes the multiversal stakes and tone of the film.
Rumors initially claimed Maguire’s Spider-Man dies during this confrontation. The Nerdrotic at Night livestream reported, “There’s Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man world with Tobey Maguire Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus fighting the Fox X-Men, and the Fox X-Men destroy Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, and he dies.” Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus later refuted the claim, stating that Maguire’s Spider-Man does not die.
