Will Campbell talks about his fear of cats
Patriots’ left tackle Will Campbell has recently revealed a fear that’s both unexpected and endearing, an aversion to cats. Campbell’s unlikely fear stems from an incident in his teenage years, an encounter that left him shaken.
On Wednesday, February 4, 22-year-old Campbell revealed the backstory of his cat phobia to the media. It traces back to a sleepover at a friend’s house when he was a teenager when a stray cat’s surprise visit left him rattled. Recalling the incident, Will Campbell said, “I went in the room that I was sleeping in, you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face. I take my shirt off, I’m about to get in bed, and I just hear [a screech] and it jumps out from under this bed and onto my leg. I booted that thing onto the ceiling.”
The interviewer’s off-camera probe revealed a striking detail, suggesting Campbell’s reaction to the feline surprise had been forceful. He admitted to kicking the cat, citing it had bitten him and he wasn’t going to just let it be. When asked about the cat’s fate, the Patriots rookie candidly expressed hope that it hadn’t survived. When asked if he’d offer an apology to the cat, Campbell’s response was, “No. It needs to apologize for biting my damn leg.”
A former LSU standout, Will Campbell was the Patriots’ fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Despite missing four games due to injury, he made an impact in 13 rookie-season contests. Now, the footballer is gearing up for his Super Bowl debut against Seattle on February 8.
