Rihanna Aiming for ‘Perfection’ With New Album — Source

Ten years is a long time to wait for a new album, especially when the artist is Rihanna. As “Anti” hit its 10th anniversary on January 28, fans couldn’t help but ask what they have been asking for quite some time: When is the artist finally coming back with a full record? And behind the scenes, the answer reportedly comes down to a long, careful restart.

Source claims Rihanna ‘has been working on an album’ and explains delay

A source exclusively told US Weekly that Rihanna “is, and has been, working on an album,” shutting down the idea that there will not be a new record or that the singer ever walked away from music for good. The person claimed the delay stems from refusing to release something that doesn’t feel right. As such, they explained, “It’s taken many forms because she’s scrapped a ton of music that she’s made over the years.”

Per the insider, at one point, Rihanna “basically had an album done,” but then “she decided to start fresh.” Moreover, the person pushed back on the idea that motherhood slowed her down creatively, suggesting that “at no point has she put it aside completely — not even while pregnant or a new mom.”

Rihanna built “Fenty Beauty” into what the source described as a $2.8 billion operation. Additionally, she grew her family with ASAP Rocky, and the person noted that Rihanna has “been through so much over the past 10 years,” leaving her with “a lot of ground to cover” musically.

More than anything, the insider claimed that Rihanna wants the new album to match the person she is today. They stated, “She wants the album to reflect where she’s at now — not, say, three years ago — but also sound timeless,” calling it “a tricky balance.”

And with the whole world watching, “She wants to make sure it’s nothing short of a masterpiece.” Hence, in the tipster’s words, “Any song that she even slightly second-guesses won’t make the cut. It has to be perfect.”
