Kanye West’s Wife Helped Him Through ‘Manic’ Episodes

Kanye West has given a rare candid insight into his personal struggles with bipolar disorder, sharing how his wife helped him through the recovery. In a recent interview, the rapper also expressed deep remorse over his past insensitive remarks and reflected on the lasting impact on his personal life and relationships.

How Bianca Censori helped Kanye West

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Ye, also known as Kanye West, opened up about his mental health struggles after hitting a “rock bottom” following a period of prolonged manic episodes. The “Flashing Lights” hitmaker detailed how his wife, Bianca Censori, had helped him through the ordeal.

“Toward the end of my four-month-long manic episode, my medication was changed. In that shift, the antipsychotic drug took me into a really deep depressive episode,” West shared.

“My wife recognized that, and we sought out what’s been effective and stabilizing course correction in my regime from a rehab facility in Switzerland,” he added. West further explained, “You must understand bipolar is a disease. It’s one of the most lethal nonterminal illnesses.”

Earlier this week, West issued a public apology in The Wall Street Journal for his antisemitic remarks. The rapper clarified to Vanity Fair that the statement was not a PR stunt to promote his upcoming album Bully and is not “about reviving [his] commerciality.”

“This is because these remorseful feelings were so heavy on my heart and weighing on my spirit,” he continued. “I owe a huge apology once again for everything that I said that hurt the Jewish and Black communities in particular. All of it went too far. I look at wreckage of my episode and realize that this isn’t who I am.”

West further shared, “Every day that I wake up, it’s a checklist of everything that I said — at least what I can recall — while in a bipolar episode.” The rapper continued, “All of the family bonds, deep relationships, and lifelong friendships that I worked so hard to build over so many years were all tarnished by all of the horrible statements that I made so impulsively.”
