Alexander Skarsgård offers clarification on previous comment about his sexuality

Alexander Skarsgård has developed a reputation for portraying complex characters and exploring them in depth. In Pillion, he played an offbeat character who shared several intensely sexual scenes with Harry Melling.

While talking about this earlier, the Murderbot star made comments that led some to question his sexuality. Discussing the film’s plot and his own experience, Skarsgård told Variety, “I found that in this case, it’s not really relevant what my background is. I mean, I do have a kid, but what I’ve done in the past, who I’ve been with, men, women… To me, what was important was that this felt like an opportunity to tell a story about a subculture I hadn’t seen portrayed this way, with so much authenticity.”

In a more recent interview with Variety, the actor clarified what he meant by the statement, saying, “That it resonated with my past? It was definitely not an intended statement. I don’t know what I was talking about.”

He continued, “Maybe it has to do with, there’s a lot of focus sometimes on me as an actor… Maybe it was trying to shift the focus more to the story and these characters. And the importance of telling the story like this.”

Skarsgård’s latest film, Pillion, received strong critical acclaim and has won two British Independent Film Awards, along with a Gotham Independent Film Award.
