Ex-Prince Andrew’s Needs To Be Taken Care of Even at ‘Rock Bottom’ — Expert

Ex-Prince Andrew is reportedly entering a new chapter marked by major personal and logistical change. As he prepares to leave Royal Lodge after more than two decades, royal watchers say the move signals a low point for the former Duke of York. Nonetheless, experts suggest his circumstances remain far from precarious. Despite losing status, visibility, and his longtime home, Andrew is expected to continue living in comfort, supported by family and staff.

According to reporting in the Mirror, removal vans have been spotted at Royal Lodge as Andrew prepares to vacate the 30-room Windsor property he has occupied for roughly 22 years. The move reportedly comes as he transitions to a smaller residence on the Sandringham estate.

Royal commentator and former BBC correspondent Jennie Bond has suggested this moment may represent what could be described as “rock bottom” for the ex-prince. Stripped of royal duties, titles, and public appearances, Bond said Andrew is likely to reflect on the series of decisions that led to his current position. However, she was careful to note that his version of “rock bottom” still includes significant support and privilege.

Bond claimed Andrew will not be facing financial hardship or isolation in a “conventional” sense. Instead, she suggested he will be “looked after” by King Charles, with staff likely continuing to handle his day-to-day needs. “Andrew is not going to be sleeping rough or going hungry,” she said. Bond added that he will still have a home in a picturesque part of the country and assistance to manage daily life.

The move also impacts Sarah Ferguson, Andrew’s former wife, who has continued to live with him despite their 1996 divorce. Sources cited by HELLO! have claimed Ferguson will not relocate with Andrew to Sandringham. Instead, she may spend time abroad, with Princess Eugenie’s home in Portugal mentioned as a possible temporary base while she explores her next steps.

Despite potential physical distance, Bond believes the former couple will remain closely connected. She suggested their shared history makes a clean emotional break unlikely, even if they no longer share a residence.
