Crime 101 | Official Trailer 2

Directed and written by Bart Layton, the film stars Chris Hemsworth as an elusive jewel thief operating along Los Angeles’ 101 freeway. His string of heists has left authorities baffled. The trailer shows Hemsworth’s character planning a final job and teaming up with a disillusioned insurance broker, played by Halle Berry.

Mark Ruffalo portrays a relentless detective who identifies a pattern in the thief’s activities and sets out to stop him. Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Nick Nolte join the ensemble cast.

Pedro Pascal was earlier in talks, reportedly to play the detective, but left the project to work on another film, said to be The Fantastic Four: First Steps, prompting Ruffalo to step in. Bart Layton adapts the film from Don Winslow’s novella and directs the 140-minute feature.

Crime 101 had its production delayed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Amazon acquired the distribution rights after a competitive bidding war with Netflix, reportedly paying $90 million. Amazon will handle distribution in North America, with Sony Pictures managing international markets. A new poster featuring the full cast and emphasizing the release date was also revealed.

In the trailer, Hemsworth is said to be “untraceable,” setting the tone for the high-stakes heist drama. In a statement about working with Berry, Hemsworth said, “Certain people just bring out not just the best in you, but also sort of a comfort level where it feels like it’s a place to explore and it’s a place to examine different ideas and try different things. And that was the experience [with Berry]. I loved every second of it” (via The Independent).
