A Yellowstone star is set to join Chris Hemsworth’s upcoming crime drama’s cast. Directed by Matt Ross, it is based on a 2007 novel that blends genres into a wacky yet fascinating story.
Brian Geraghty joins Chris Hemsworth’s crime thriller
Brian Geraghty is the latest addition to the cast of Chris Hemsworth’s upcoming crime thriller, Kockroach, per Deadline. Details about his role in the film are still under wraps.
Geraghty is popular for his role as Zane Davis in Yellowstone’s spin-off series, 1923, which also stars Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. While he began acting in television shows such as Law & Order and The Sopranos, he rose to fame with films like Jarhead and The Hurt Locker.
Apart from Hemsworth and Geraghty, the film’s current lineup also includes Taron Egerton, Alec Baldwin, Zazie Beetz, and Rachel Sennott.
Kockroach is based on the 2007 novel of the same name by William Lashner, who wrote it under the pen name, Tyler Knox. It explores the story of a cockroach that finds itself transformed into a human in 1950s New York. Over time, as it adapts to human life, the insect gradually rises through the city’s criminal and social circles.
Interestingly, Lashner’s work is a re-imagining of Franz Kafka’s 1915 novella, Metamorphosis. The novella follows Gregor Samsa, a traveling salesman who mysteriously gets transformed into a gigantic insect.
The studio initially announced that Channing Tatum would headline the film. However, due to scheduling conflicts, the actor had to walk away from the project. Hemsworth subsequently joined the cast in the lead role (via Deadline).
Although Kockroach is set in New York, it is currently being shot in Australia. With production still underway, an official teaser, trailer, and release date are all yet to be revealed. However, the MCU actor shared the first look and a behind-the-scenes photo on X (formerly Twitter) in mid-April.
