Chris Hemsworth To Lead New High-Speed Racing Movie After Rush

Chris Hemsworth is returning to the world of high-speed racing, and this time the track is anything but ordinary. The actor’s production company just locked in a major deal that could bring one of Australia’s wildest motorsport events to the big screen.

Chris Hemsworth to headline new movie about Tatts Finke Desert Race

Chris Hemsworth and Ben Grayson’s Wild State media company have partnered exclusively with Australia’s Tatts Finke Desert Race, Deadline reported.

The deal covers multiple projects surrounding the two-day motorsport event. A narrative feature film is in early development as a starring vehicle for Hemsworth.

Screenwriters Ricky Staub and Dan Walser are currently penning the script for the feature. Wild State is also producing unscripted content around the race. That content includes a project following freestyle motocross legend Robbie Maddison as he tackles the race for the first time.

“Off road racing has been a passion in my family for a long time,” Hemsworth said. He added that Wild State is “thrilled to partner with the Tatts Finke Desert Race on the eve of its 50th anniversary.” Hemsworth also expressed excitement about bringing “this epic competition to a global audience.”

The Tatts Finke Desert Race stands as one of the biggest annual sporting events in the Northern Territory. It holds recognition as the most exciting off-road race in Australia. The course also carries a reputation as one of the most difficult in one of the world’s most remote places.

This June marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic desert event. The partnership arrives at a significant moment in the race’s long history. Wild State’s recent projects include the Disney+ series Limitless with Hemsworth and Netflix’s Extraction franchise.

The production company also has Crime 101 in development with Amazon and the upcoming Corsair Code with Apple.
