Ethan Hawke Reveals Thoughts on Stranger Things Finale With Daughter Maya

Ethan Hawke was delighted with the Stranger Things Season 5 finale and enjoyed his daughter Maya Hawke’s role as Robin. He applauded the show’s ambitious storytelling and praised Maya for her standout performance, noting how the series tied up every character’s journey. For Hawke, this finale is a big moment his daughter will remember and look back on for years to come.

What Ethan Hawke said about Stranger Things Season 5

In a chat with Access Hollywood, Ethan Hawke opened up about how much he admired the final season of the Netflix hit. Hawke is proud of his daughter and also the whole team that made the show. The Before Sunrise star also praised the creators for pulling off such a huge, emotionally packed story while giving every character a satisfying send-off. “I am so proud of her. I am so proud of that whole group of people that made that show,” he said

Hawke had extra love for Robin, Maya’s character. “They took care of every character. Obviously, Robin is my favorite. I was so impressed with the whole thing,” he added. He also shared that he talked to Maya about the finale, knowing how big this moment will be for her. “I think in 20 years she’s going to be amazed at what this moment in time means to this. It will be important for a long time,” he said.

Maya Hawke first played Robin in Stranger Things Season 3, the no-nonsense coworker of everyone’s favorite Steve. Robin quickly stood out not just for her humor and smarts, but also as the show’s first openly lesbian character. Her guidance of Will Byers during his coming-out story in Season 5 added heart, depth, and meaningful representation. This made Robin a fan favorite despite joining the show halfway.

Looking ahead, Maya has some exciting projects lined up. She’s set to star in the Hunger Games prequel, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, hitting theaters this November.
