Jensen Ackles’ Tracker Return in Season 3 Gets an Exciting Tease

With the first few episodes of Tracker Season 3 leaving the fate of Jensen Ackles‘ Russell Shaw in the air, executive producer Elwood Reid has addressed whether Colter’s elder brother will return in the latter half of the installment. In a recent interview, the veteran writer opened up about the possibilities of bringing back Russell, as well as Dory (Melissa Roxburgh), in Tracker’s coming episodes, stating that the duo could make an appearance under one condition.

Elwood Reid says he’s trying to get Jensen Ackles back for Tracker Season 3

While speaking with TV Insider, Reid confirmed that he wants Jensen Ackles to return for the second part of Tracker Season 3. Nevertheless, the EP also noted that scheduling conflicts could restrict him from doing so.

“We’re going to try,” Reid said before adding, “If Jensen has a hole in his schedule at the end of the year, I’d like to book him in there or try to get him in there. He’s just fun to have in the show. It all depends on — he’s a busy guy. He’s busy with The Boys offshoot [Vought Rising]. So, I mean, as soon as he gets done with that.”

When asked about his plans for Melissa Roxburgh in Tracker Season 3, Reid seems to have a similar answer. Just as Ackles, his on-screen sister also has running commitments with other projects, with Roxburgh set to reprise her leading role of Rebecca ‘Bex’ Henderson in The Hunting Party Season 2.

Notably, Ackles briefly featured in the initial episodes of Tracker Season 3, helping Colter (Justin Hartley) solve a missing-person case. After the two inadvertently land on the radar of a menacing operation, known as The Process, they fake Russell’s death in order to escape the spotlight. However, unlike Russell, Dory, who is Colter’s younger sister, has yet to make an appearance in Tracker after Season 2.

While Jensen Ackles and Melissa Roxburgh’s return in Tracker Season 3 remains uncertain at the moment, Reid has emphasized that the series would continue to revolve around Colter’s story. “I’m hammering home to most of the writers and to the editors and the directors, is it’s always Colter’s show. Always,” he noted.
