Jimmy Kimmel Challenges Donald Trump Amid Contract Extension

Jimmy Kimmel took a shot at Donald Trump shortly after Disney confirmed his show’s contract extension. The late-night television host launched a series of jabs at Trump in response to the President’s recent attacks on him.

Jimmy Kimmel taunts Donald Trump after contract extension

Jimmy Kimmel announced his contract extension with ABC on his Jimmy Kimmel Live! show on Monday, December 8. “I’ve been renewed,” the late-night host declared in his opening monologue, earning a standing ovation from the audience. “Our show’s been renewed until May of 2027 or until the world ends, whichever comes first,” Kimmel added.

Following a few words to celebrate the extension, Kimmel turned his attention to Trump. Remarking on Trump’s continued attacks on him, the late-night host joked, “He is really fixated. I’m starting to think he might have a crush on me.”

Kimmel further responded to the President’s recent attack on him, where he called Kimmel “horrible” while hosting the 2025 Kennedy Center Honors the night before.

“I’ve watched some of the people that host, Jimmy Kimmel was horrible,” Trump can be heard saying in a clip that Kimmel played. “Some of these people… If I can’t beat out Jimmy Kimmel in terms of talent, then I don’t think I should be president,” Trump added.

In response, Kimmel jokingly asserted, “Agreed. I’m with you. I don’t think, I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with anything more than that.”

Kimmel further added, “Do you think he even knows I’ve never hosted the Kennedy Center Honors? Maybe he’s confusing me with Queen Latifah. As far as this ‘who has more talent’ thing goes, it seems like he’s challenging me to a contest, which, if so, I’m open to it.” The television host then suggested that he and Trump go head to head in a “talent competition.”

Kimmel’s hilarious clap back at Trump comes shortly after Disney extended the late-night star’s contract for one more year after his current contract expires in May 2026. As per the new contract, Kimmel will stay on air till May 2027, under Disney’s ABC Network.
