Tara Reid was recently taken to the hospital from a hotel in Rosemont on November 23. The American Pie star later claimed that she was drugged, believing that “her drink was tampered with” by a stranger. Following an investigation, police have now reportedly stated that there is no video evidence to support the drugging allegations.
Police reportedly say there is no video evidence supporting Tara Reid’s drugged claims
In a statement issued to PEOPLE by the Rosemont Public Safety Department on December 3, the authorities shared that the video footage from the surveillance cameras did not show evidence of someone drugging Tara Reid at the DoubleTree Chicago O’Hare Airport hotel.
“While video surveillance showed Tara Reid at the hotel bar, at no time did video show anyone tampering with or adding something to her drink,” the statement began. “We can confirm that a bartender covered her drink when she left the bar, which is standard practice for bartenders to do,” the authorities continued.
“We cannot, however, confirm at this time if or what specific chemical testing the hospital may have conducted,” the police added. The statement shared that Reid is still working with the police “to receive those records which she has also not received.”
The statement further clarified, “Pending those results or further information coming forward, our detectives will follow up on those leads accordingly. At this time, there is no criminal act that has been committed, and there is no one we are currently investigating.”
The police concluded, saying, “While we do not have any evidence that a drink was tampered with, it is a good reminder to never leave a drink unattended. If you ever believe you have been drugged or feel unsafe, please reach out to local authorities.”
Previously, the DoubleTree Chicago O’Hare Airport hotel also shared a statement addressing Reid’s drugging allegations. They stated that “our trained security team assisted and arranged for medical support” as soon as they found out about the situation. “The safety and security of our guests and employees is of paramount importance to us,” the hotel announced.
