Hundreds of New Yorkers fought for their right to speak out against hate after Adam Yauch Park was defaced with anti-Semitic, pro-Donald Trump graffiti.

The Brooklyn playground was named after Yauch, a founding member of the Beastie Boys, who died from cancer in 2012. Perhaps even more painful was that Yauch, who was Jewish, was a leading activist who preached peace, love and unity.

New York Sen. Daniel Squadron and Beastie Boys member Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz were among the large crowd who came with flowers and Beastie Boys-inspired signs such as “No Sleep ‘Til No Hate in Brooklyn.”

Among the fans and friends was actor Ben Stiller, who said the event is representative of a larger wave of hate crimes that have taken place since Trump won the election. “It’s important for us to stand up and say it’s not all right,” Stiller said to NBC New York. “It’s important for the president-elect to say it’s not okay, too.”
