Jennifer Lawrence once “came down hard” on crew members who invaded her personal space while she was filming a nude scene.
Appearing on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, the Oscar-winning star opened up about a past on-set security breach and explained why she felt compelled to set hard boundaries.
“There was like an instance on set where crew members who weren’t approved when I was like doing nudity, you know, were on set or something,” Lawrence recalled.
Recognizing her influence, she took matters into her own hands to protect the working environment. “And I came down hard on it purely because if we’re not setting that kind of principle at the level at which we’re doing it right now, you know, then what on earth is going to happen to an 18-year-old unknown,” she added. “So, it was important to me to explain that to the people why that was not okay.”
Jennifer Lawrence explained why speaking up matters for younger actresses
According to Jennifer Lawrence, it was crucial for her to take a stand, not just for herself but for any other actress who is young in the industry.
She said, “If she shows up and there are people that aren’t approved, you know, she’s going to be in a position like, ‘Do I say something and get a reputation for being difficult or do I just let these people, who I’m not comfortable with, see me naked?'”
Lawrence has filmed multiple nude scenes in her movies. Last year, she did intimate sequences for horror drama Die My Love. For her 2023 romantic comedy No Hard Feelings, she shot a nude fight scene on a beach.
“I don’t care about nudity. I’m not sensitive about it,” she previously told interviewers, per People, emphasizing that her participation in such scenes is strictly tied to a professional and creative process.
Lawrence will soon return to the big screen in Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, reprising her iconic role as Katniss Everdeen. The film hits theaters on November 20, 2026.
