Chloë Levine has landed her next starring feature role. The actress plays a successful adult film star in the upcoming indie drama.
Chloë Levine is set to lead Your Heart Is a Hummingbird, Deadline reports. The film is a semi-autobiographical drama written and directed by SM Goldberger. Levine plays Rebekah Rosenberg, known professionally as Bex Bacall. The film is currently shooting in Los Angeles.
The film’s synopsis reads, “Levine plays successful adult film star Rebekah Rosenberg — aka Bex Bacall — who upon learning of her mother’s cancer diagnosis, finds her very carefully separated worlds collide forcing her to reconcile the girl she was with the woman she’s becoming.”
Goldberger developed the script through the 2024 Antigravity Academy Screenwriters Camp. Winsor Yuan, Chelsea Davenport, and Kimberly Hwang serve as producers. The film doesn’t have a premiere date yet.
SM Goldberger brings a deeply personal story to the screen with her latest movie
Goldberger brings more than a decade of personal experience working in the adult entertainment industry. Deadline reports that Goldberger won Director of the Year twice for films made with feminist producer Erika Lust.
The filmmaker also served as an industry consultant on Neon’s Pleasure and Sean Baker’s A24 film Red Rocket. Prominent news outlets like The New York Times have published Goldberger’s writing as a sex work advocate.
The filmmaker praised Levine’s casting. “Rebekah was an incredibly difficult role to cast,” Goldberger told the outlet. “Not only because this is her movie, but because she’s a character who holds a lot close to her chest.”
Levine is known for her roles in Netflix’s The OA and Trinkets. She recently wrapped filming on An Innocent Girl, Netflix’s psychological thriller featuring Kerry Washington and Colman Domingo. The New York-based actress also appeared in Marvel’s The Defenders in a recurring role. Her upcoming projects also include Warner Bros.’ F.A.S.T., written by Taylor Sheridan, and the independent drama Divine Blood.
