Mark Ruffalo made a surprise video appearance at Macklemore’s Dublin benefit concert. The actor urged thousands of fans to keep fighting for equality and peace worldwide, voicing his support for Palestinian freedom.
Ruffalo appeared in a prerecorded message during the sold-out show on October 26. He called for continued support for Palestinians and stressed that lasting peace requires equal rights for everyone. The MCU star said, “Hey hey, keep fighting for a free Palestine, humanity all over the world, and equality amongst the people. There’ll be no peace until there’s equality. Lots of love, have a great show, keep fighting the good fight. Amen, God bless everyone.”
Ruffalo’s appearance added a message of unity to the concert, which launched Macklemore’s “Free Palestine” tour.
Macklemore used the benefit concert to amplify calls for Palestinian freedom
Macklemore used the concert to bring attention to Palestinian rights. The three-show tour also includes stops in Paris and London, with all proceeds going to charities supporting Palestinians. Macklemore also donated his $1 million salary from Ed Sheeran’s US tour to the cause.
During the show, Macklemore addressed the controversy surrounding his removal from Sheeran’s tour. He told the audience, “Six weeks ago, it was two words. Two words is all that it took. Two words that are rooted in love and liberation. Not against anybody, not divisive. Not a call for hatred. But a call to recognize our shared humanity. Free Palestine.”
Macklemore was dropped from the remainder of Sheeran’s US tour on September 14. The decision followed his pro-Palestinian speeches at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on September 4 and 5. His comments sparked criticism and debate over political statements at concerts.
The Dublin event also featured surprise appearances by Hozier and Kneecap, alongside Irish band Beoga. Actor Liam Cunningham introduced the evening, while Palestinian-Israeli singer Lina Makoul performed. The concert brought musicians and supporters together around calls for Palestinian freedom.
