An underrated MCU star just landed a major role. He has joined Rebecca Ferguson and Greta Lee in their upcoming movie. The MRC romantic comedy Honeymoon/Funeral is currently filming in London, with the latest casting adding another familiar face to its ensemble.
As per a Deadline report, Carrie Coon has joined the cast. The film comes from director Nahnatchka Khan and writer Julia Bicknell. MRC is financing and overseeing the production. Jennifer Carreras and Khan are producing through their Fierce Baby banner, while Bicknell also serves as a producer.
What else we know about Honeymoon / Funeral
Honeymoon/Funeral follows two women who meet on a flight from Los Angeles to London. Ferguson plays a woman traveling alone for her honeymoon after her girlfriend leaves her at the altar. Lee plays another woman returning home for her mother’s funeral, and the pair eventually spend the week together.
Carrie Coon will play Sarah, the ex-fiancée of Lee’s character. Coon is known for The White Lotus and The Leftovers, along with her work across film, television, and theater. She has received Golden Globe, Emmy, and Tony nominations during her career.
The casting gives Coon a role directly tied to the breakup that sends Lee’s character back home. It also brings another established performer into a film built around Ferguson and Lee.
For Rebecca Ferguson, the project adds another movie to an already busy slate. She currently stars in and executive produces Apple TV+’s Silo. She is also set to return as Lady Jessica in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three.
Greta Lee previously earned major awards attention for Past Lives. Her recent credits include The Last House, Late Fame and Toy Story 5. Meanwhile, Khan is known for directing Always Be My Maybe and Totally Killer.
FilmNation Entertainment is handling worldwide sales for Honeymoon/Funeral. The project is being presented at the TIFF market, but it doesn’t have a release date yet.
