Report: Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Edge, Note 7, Note 7 Edge and 4K Galaxy X All Launching in 2017

Samsung is allegedly looking to dramatically increase its production next year, with a new report suggesting that the company will launch the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Edge, Note 7, Note 7 Edge and the brand new Galaxy X all within 2017.

The report, which initially surfaced on the hugely popular Chinese social networking site Weibo, claims that the Korean tech giant will be looking to launch the five flagship smartphones before the end of 2017. Despite Samsung having initially stated that it would be slowing down production of its smartphones in order to avoid over-saturating the market, this new report suggests that the company has changed its mind for 2017, and will instead be looking to compete with the likes of Apple’s iPhone 7 with a number of products spread across the 12 month period.

Though the company released the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge earlier this year, it is claimed that they’re looking to release the next iteration of the flagship device in 2017, along with a new Note 7/Note 7 Edge and the highly anticipated Galaxy X.

The Samsung Galaxy X is the most exciting device of the bunch, with rumors suggesting that it will be a 4K device with a foldable design that makes it easier for the user to carry in their pocket. A 3D render of a patent filed by Samsung highlights how the Korean company could even utilize a tri-folding screen, which may be a little too impractical to be deemed realistic, but at least offers an insight into how the Samsung Galaxy X could function.

While companies file plenty of patents throughout each year, many of which feature technology that doesn’t come into fruition, the high number of patents filed by Samsung pertaining to foldable smartphone screens strongly suggests that this is an avenue the company will venture down within the next few years. If these reports are to be believed, the Samsung Galaxy X will see this vision become a reality sooner rather than later.
