Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold briefly went on sale on January 30, 2026, with a listed price of $2,899. However, users noticed an unusual detail about the groundbreaking device. Although the phone was available for a short time, there was no option to trade in an existing device at checkout. It remains unclear whether the option will be added in the future or remain unavailable for this model.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold reportedly won’t allow trade-ins
Samsung announced earlier this week that the Galaxy Z TriFold would be available for purchase in the United States on January 30, 2026. But the devices sold out quickly. However, those who did find it before it sold out noticed that there was no trade-in option for the phone (via 9to5google).
With a starting price of $2,899 and roughly $3,100 after tax, the lack of an option trade may be a concern for buyers. It can be generally for those who typically offset upgrade costs by trading in older devices.
The new foldable features a 10 inch inner display and a 6.5 inch cover screen. It uses a three-panel design supported by two hinges. The phone also offers strong performance specifications, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and a 200 megapixel camera. It has a 5,600mAh battery with 45W charging support. These features position it as a high-end device capable of handling most tasks in 2026.
As noted by 9to5Google, while the Galaxy Z TriFold does not currently support trade-ins, Samsung is offering several bundled incentives. These include a 10% discount on its Smart Keyboard, $70 off Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, and 10% off the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic when purchased together with the TriFold. Additional perks include 50% off LumaFusion and two months of Adobe Lightroom. Moreover, a 30-day trial of ArcSite, three months of SiriusXM, a 30-day trial of Samsung Health Premium, and six months of Google Gemini Advanced.
A trade-in option may be introduced later when the Galaxy Z TriFold returns to stock.
