The LG LTE Action Camera Lets You Live Stream Yourself Being a Badass

The LG LTE Action Camera, announced today, is the world’s first action cam with built-in LTE connectivity, meaning that its users can stream directly to YouTube without a smartphone.

The 12.3-megapixel device can record videos in Ultra HD, 4K quality at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps and 720p at 120fps, while it can also live stream in standard high-definition at 30fps. LG claims that the device can record up to four hours of 1080p footage using microSD storage, while its durable design keeps it completely protected from dust and allows it to be immersed in up to one meter of water for as long as 30 minutes. It’s also equipped with a pretty sizable (for an action cam) battery of 1,400mAH, with it also being equipped with a 150-degree wide-angle lens and GPS.

It also includes a few added neat features, including an accelerometer and a gyroscope. As The Verge notes, TomTom’s Bandit has previously implemented these hardware features in order to automatically record footage when it calculates that a “big moment” has taken place, such as a notable jump or, less impressively, when the user has fallen over.

The LG LTE Action Camera will also use its 3G and LTE capabilities to provide remote access functionality, allowing the user to utilize it as a CCTV camera for home monitoring, or as a dashboard camera for vehicles.

While pricing details have yet to be revealed, LG has revealed that the action cam will first be available to purchase in South Korea next month, before its launch will move to “key markets worldwide” including North America and Europe.
