November is the gateway of the holiday season. Friends and family gather to relish in each other’s company while eating endless amounts of food. To stay cozy for the upcoming feasts, every guy will need the perfect pair of corduroy pants.

“Corde du roi,” or “cloth of the king,” was supposedly the origin of the term corduroy. This was due to aristocracies across Europe being adorned in this material during the Medieval Era. Centuries later England perfected this textile and was mass-producing it in factories throughout the late 1800s.

As time progressed, corduroy’s durable and ribbed fabric became the new uniform for the working class. In the 1950s, 60s, and 70s it became stylish with college prepsters, writers, poets, and more. It was soon found in blazers, coats, and trousers.
